Frequently Asked Questions

Browse open positions directly at PlankeApp Pilates Jobs — no account needed to view listings. You can filter by city, shift type (permanent, substitute, freelance), and pay range. To apply, create a free instructor account and submit your application in one tap.

You can also browse jobs by city: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Austin, Miami, and more.

PlankeApp lists several shift types: permanent positions (ongoing weekly schedule), substitute shifts (fill-in for a specific class), freelance/contract roles, and studio rental opportunities. Each listing shows the shift type, schedule, and pay range so you know exactly what you're applying for.

Most studios require a comprehensive Pilates certification from a recognized program (Balanced Body, BASI, STOTT, Peak Pilates, Power Pilates, etc.) — typically 450+ hours covering mat and apparatus. While there is no national license requirement in the US, studios self-regulate by hiring only certified instructors. Some studios also look for the National Pilates Certification Program (NPCP) credential. Each job listing on PlankeApp specifies any required qualifications.

Pay varies by city, experience, and class type. Typical ranges by market:

  • New York City: $25–$70/hour (average ~$33–$34)
  • Los Angeles: $30–$55/hour (average ~$36–$37)
  • Austin / Atlanta: $30–$50/hour (average ~$40–$43)
  • Chicago / Denver: $25–$45/hour (average ~$33–$35)
  • Miami: $35–$60/hour (average ~$35–$49)

Private session rates are typically higher ($60–$100+). Browse our Pilates jobs board to see current pay ranges posted by studios near you.

Yes! Right now our biggest userbase is with Pilates, but we are growing into the Yoga and Barre space as well - as there is a lot of cross-over for studios and instructors alike. We recommend sharing the app with your colleagues and employers to help grow opportunities in your field.

Once you've set up your account, posting a job is a one step process. Simply answer a few prompted questions and post the class that you need filled…then either browse profiles or wait for the instructors to come to you. All jobs you post are automatically shared directly to the instructor's main feed.

Each country has its own guidelines, and the studio you connect with will be able to provide information on legal requirements for their location.

Include a professional photo, list all relevant certifications, highlight your experience and specialties, add your availability, and write a brief bio that showcases your teaching style and personality. The more complete your profile, the more likely studios are to reach out.
